We're putting the spotlight on some of the interesting and inspiring women in our riding community.
WHY DO YOU RIDE?
I ride to be free and to make time for myself. I ride to talk to my soul, to be independent and to be around like-minded people. I also ride to forget the pain of neuropathy and arthritis.
HOW DID YOU GET INTO RIDING?
A friend of mine had a Spyder and he took me for a ride on it. I fell in love instantly! I love Spyder’s stability, spaciousness, comfort and how easy it was to drive! That was it. Once I started to look for my own Spyder and found 2016 RT LTD, I drove it for 1 year. I presented it to my husband, bought the 2017 edition and the rest is history. Now, I'm living my best life with my Spyder.
YOU TAKE YOUR PETS ON YOUR RIDES. HOW DID THAT BEGIN, AND HOW DOES THAT WORK?
As soon as I got the Spyder, my furbabies started riding with me. It took few months for them to get used to the wind, the goggles, the noise of the Spyder and the road (a truck driving next you, a tire pop, loud horns, etc). We started out in the driveway with the engine on, then progressed to my driving around my neighborhood, and gradually, on the highway. It was a lot of work and preparation involved to ride with my two furbabies, but now Blu and Rico love riding the Spyder. We go almost everywhere together!
WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST TAKEAWAY FROM WOMEN OF ON-ROAD?
Women of On-Road has given me an outlet to share my passion for Spyder riding. It has opened the door to sisterhood with a group of like-minded women riders. It's also a way for new riders to get integrated into a community, and for seasoned riders to share ideas, safety tips and encourage new riders. All from a woman's point of view.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO OTHER WOMEN WHO ARE LOOKING TO TRY SOMETHING NEW (ESPECIALLY RIDING)?
Do not wait. There is no right or perfect time to get into riding. If you can drive a car, you can drive a Spyder or Ryker. Life is short. Take a chance and live life to the fullest!
