What are the D.E.S.S. keys?

When you’re off-road in some of the world’s most extreme conditions and varied terrains, a normal key doesn’t cut it. We created a secure system called D.E.S.S., replacing traditional metal keys with an inexpensive, dealer-programmable “key” that unlocks extra features on your Can-Am ATV or SSV Off-Road vehicle.

BUILT-IN FEATURES

  • Advanced anti-theft protection
  • Encrypted technology that restricts access to your ignition system
  • One vehicle—one D.E.S.S. code
  • Vibration-resistant ball-and-socket design.

Selected 2023 Can-Am Off-Road vehicle comes with one (1) D.E.S.S. key, but additional ones can be added at any time. In addition, reprogramming spare keys or ones for younger riders is possible:

  • Work / Learning key reduces the vehicle’s top speed to 40 km/h without limiting the engine torque.
  • Normal key reduces torque and top speed to 70 km/h
  • Performance key unleashes full performance
